This is a wonderful red to sit by the fire with on a cold night. This wine is made from the Gaglioppo grape, native to southern Italy; it is fuller-bodied with ripe tannins and notes of black cherry, black plum, red currant, and wood spice, with a hint of underlying smokiness. It is a well-balanced, structured wine that would pair well with red meat, barbeque, and hearty tomato-based pastas.
