Bairrada, Portugal, 2017
This is a deeper expression of this Pinot Noir with notes of black cherry, raspberry, licorice, and spice, as well as some light earthiness combined with good body and acid. This red is light enough not to overpower chicken, pork, or oilier fish, but has enough body and earthiness to stand up to the richness of darker meat. Berry notes and spiciness bring brightness and complement almost all autumnal seasonal dishes.
